Been a long time

... since I blogged. Didn't really know what to write about. And I don't feel like writing for the sake of writing; I want to write only when I have the juices for it or at least some worthy-a-post entry.

Life's been a whirry of events and what's worth mentioning is that our dance troupe is expanding.

I don't want to count our eggs before they hatch so can't write much about it yet but stay tuned! I'm so excited for Divas' new phase... Hee

Musing

You know, with the recent political awakening of so many apathetic citizens who are of the younger generation, I have a question.

Does it mean that if an individual who has behaved badly or childishly or partied wildly in the past would have no hopes of being a future politician? TPL is a great example, no matter how good her intentions are now to serve the people or how ernest she portrays herself, netizens would never let her forget her immature past.

Enuff said.

Funny Question

Arh, the GE is coming up so there's been quite a few shows that my troupe is doing for GRC events.

The most recent one was last Sunday.  The programme stated that my item would start right after the GOH's speech.  But suddenly, I was called onstage with no prior warning for me to standby and definitely no speech by the GOH.

SO I quickly gathered my props n put them at the side of the stage before I scrambled up on it.

The first question the emcee asked was:" How old are you?"

HUH???  I mean HUH!!!!????
%@#!*?

What kind of emcee asks that as a first question?  or for that matter, what kind of emcee even asks such a question???

totally INAPPROPRIATE!!!

goodness.

anyway, my reply was quick:" I'm quite old."

for which he said: I'm 15, so you can't be older than me."

my reply? "I'm definitely much older." and smiled my sweetest smile.  But inside my heart, I was thinking, what the hell was he thinking?

DUH.

Ok, I changed my mind about my earlier post

Yes, I changed my mind.  I'm not that indifferent, I am happy that half my dance troupe is going to put up performances to raise funds for the victims tomorrow.  I can't put up any item because I won't have time to get ready for dancing after work.  But I sure am gona head down to support my troupe mates and to do my part to contribute to the donations.

If any one of you happen to read this in time, do join us at Blu Jaz (11 Bali Lane) for a night long of different dancers/ performers.  See ya!

Natural Disasters

So many facebook posts on Japan's tsunami and earthquakes.  It's good to see the posts because I don't read the newspaper, so I get my updates from those on FB.

However, to be honest, for this recent spate of news on the natural disasters, I don't feel a thing - no "oh so sad", "oh so poor thing", "oh I hope things get better".

It's not that I'm unsympathetic, I do feel for people who suffered.  Those who lost their loved ones are the people who's going to suffer for a long time than those who are dead.

Other than donations and rescue team, I can't see how all the posts on FB helps.  And unless you personally know someone who's caught in that situation, if not, you will never ever understand how that someone feels because, well, simply, you are not in his/her shoes.  So I hate to read people saying the 'oh so sorry" stuff when it's obvious it doesn't improve things.  I rather you shut up and remain silent. Or post something bimbotic like "I'm checking in at xxxxx"

(which by the way is something that irritates me, why the hell would you want to do that?)

So there, I'm kinda indifferent to this whole thing.  But I do feel scared that humans are courting our own death.  Look at our weather in S'pore... it's pretty haywire - heavy rain and then bright sunshine and then heavy downpour again and then floods.  ALL of us know it's a sign that we should do our part not to incur more wrath from Mother Earth... but how?

There are simply no regulations or laws to govern us towards such desirable behaviour.  Only more ERPs, haha. The irony.

Rabbit Year

The start of the rabbit year was hectic, fun and adventurous!
This is the first time that I went out on the eve of Chinese New Year... I headed down to River Ang Bao and watched the fantastic fireworks and took a stroll at Chinatown thereafter.

After the usual CNY visiting on Chu Yi, went to chill at a pub: played a little bit of card games, drank a little liquor.  Caught Green Hornet on Chu Er and played a little dice game, drank a little liquor at another pub.  Gathering on Chu San: gambled lotsa, drank lotsa wine, lao yu sheng twice, sang lotsa 'Cai Shen Dao' and laughed lotsa!  Watched 'I love Hong Kong' on Chu Si and a nice dinner after.  You can understand why I was sooooo reluctant to say farewell to such a carefree start of the rabbit year - the carefree way of waking up at 2 or 3 pm, laze for as long as I like before heading out to play and sleep at 3 or 4 am.

Went to the temple too.  For a dose of good luck to hop smoothly in the bunny year:)

Some time were spent on birthday gatherings - 3 gatherings to be exact.  Happily celebrating (with dim sum, sake, homecooked clam chowder and healthy servings of laughter) the addition of another good year gone by and the welcoming of another great year ahead!

And of course not forgetting the memorable boat trips (I'll definitely blog more on this as these trips deserve a post on its own:) graciously hosted by a great couple with the yacht.

So there, you have it.  A fabulous month yet again:)  Stay tuned for my next post and signing off with a few more pictures of the cute bunnies.

Wan Xuan & Cup Cakes!!!

My cousin's baby is so super duber cute!!!  No longer a baby, now big girl already (2.5 years old).  This one shows Xuanxuan's work in progress, concentrating very hard.

This one shows her still working on her 'design' enthusiatically.

TA DA!!!!!  Finished her 'masterpiece'!!!  She looks so proud of herself and smiling away while munching on the leftover chocolates.

Must Slim down!!!

So Ge-Mok now! must slim down!!! Been eating from 2010 all the way through to 2011. Here's what I mean:

Right after my 2 days MC on 27 & 28 Dec,

29th Dec - Indian Dinner with ex-SCB gang, lots of food, nice ambience
30th Dec - steamboat @ Rajah Inn, 4 pax but buffet so over-ate
31st Dec - Japanese Dinner@Steve's restaurant, ate loads again and top off with ice-cream n BYO drinks
1st Jan - Qian's wedding lunch, 8 course chinese food and then lamb feast at Ali's housewarming & met my new friend called Choya
2nd Jan - hungry after blading&kite-flying@ECP so pigged out at 麻辣 steamboat

It's quite pek chek when I can't fit into my clothes or look like I am overflowing in my dance costume. But every reverse has a reverse side, which in this case is that I am happy :) :) :)

I only have appetite when I am happy!!!

Ridiculously Sotong

After a break of about 10 days, I was supposed to go back to work on Monday (the week after X'Mas) but I fell sick!  However, I made a quick run to office to do some stuff during my MC and it could be a mixture of heavy medication or just simply blurness that I did the following:

I want to stop at Tanjong Pagar so by right I should transit at Raffles Place.
However, I overshot and alight the MRT at Marina Bay.
So I have to take the train back to Raffles Place.
But alas, I overshot again and alighted at City Hall!!!
So finally, from City Hall, I made it to Raffles Place AND transit to Tanjong Pagar.

See? I past by Raffles Place station at least 3 times during this whole process.  To top it all off, when I finally reach office, I forgot my log in ID.  Too long absence from office is really a test of memory power for me! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally remembered!!!

Been having nightmares on and off ever since Halloween.  Each time I woke up, I completely forgot what I dreamt.  But it hit me while I was driving home earlier; the exact moment was when I was stepping on the brakes to bring my car to a stop at the traffic light that had turned red.

I finally remembered!!!  I finally remembered that in my dream, I was stepping my brakes to the fullest... step until cannot go further that kind.  But yet, the car didn't manage to stop or even slow down or anything.  I don't remember any outcome of the scenerio or why was I even in that situation in the first place.  I only know the nightmare was all about stepping fervently on the brakes and that it had no impact or whatsoever on the car that I am in.
