A realisation

I hadn't been posting up pictures recently and thought my blog looks so boring huh. So today I have decided to put up some pictures. Taken a few months back but since I have time today, I shall let you all see lor.

Pictures of me and Jenny... God, I do miss her a lot when I look at these! Guess I have been so caught up with work and didn't really email her lately since. I wonder how she is getting on with her new flatmate.

We were acting goofy and posing in the restaurant. Luckily for us, there weren't much people around at that time. Most diners have left while we went higher by the minute and kid ourselves silly. It was fun though! Long time since I had such fun except maybe the recent wakeboarding trip I went.

Okie, as you can see, she got pretty high and happy! I hope she's not gonna kill me when I post this picture up... But hey, I looked equally unflattering so Jenny, if you happen to see this, don't complain or shout at me okie?

My new Work

I feel more settled these days. It's not easy to deal with changes especially when one gets older. My new colleagues are really nice people and easy to talk to. Just that they seldom talk and now that it's my third week that I know why... Everyday there are just so so many things to do!! On the flip side, this means I am juggling quite a lot of things on my plate now but life is all about how you look at it. I like to think that it's enriching to be able to have the chance to expand my expertise and I still get to go off work on quite normal hours around 5plus latest 6pm.

Sometimes I wonder what is it really like to change job to become a full-time housewife? I guess my mum made this occupation looked really breezy with stereotyped inevitable naggy personality. I used to think housewives are naggy because they just want to have some human interaction while working. i mean, what fun is there if there are no co-workers? Talk to the chair? To my surprise, I did some discoveries on my own.

The story begins like all other stories: One fine bright cheery Sunday morning (not too long ago), I woke up after a good night's rest. I decided to make my husband breakfast so that he can sleep in abit more. So I brought my ass down to NTUC and bought ingredients. Then I decided to buy extra ingredients either to cook dinner the next day or dinner the very same day. After much sweat and jumping away from splattering oil, I managed to serve up a delicious platter of brunch - consisting of ham, tomatoes, french toast, mushrooms, baked beans and asparagus!! He kissed me for being such a fantastic person on Sunday... Hahah! I thought I did great too. By the time I washed up it was about 1pm. Phew! I read a book on my bed, relaxed a bit, danced a bit and then lo and behold!!!! It's time to prepare dinner! It was at this point that I suddenly feel like I understand a little of what my mum has gone through. It's like I barely sat down to rest and the very next minute, I had to gear up for prep work again. It's quite a chore to think of what to cook so that I can buy the correct ingredients and the best perfect timing to start cooking is when by the time family member comes home (in my case is by the time he woke up from his nap), all the three dishes are already cooked and still warm and ready to be eaten. Quite a challenge to control the timing lei!

As I was firing away instructions for him to prep the table for dinner to be served amoidst all my sweat (again!), there's this deja vu feeling that; hey I sound exactly like my mum! NAGGY to infinity and beyond.... And I get totally confused who's getting the last laugh. Cos for sure I am not the one, hee hee.

Dancer

I am so excited and happy!!!! My bellydancing school just emailed me that I am selected to embark on their intensive training programme. Below was the email sent out for the details of the audition:

Want to be part of BDD dance team? Here’s your opportunity. We are looking for new dancers.

The selection is based on your dance techniques, grace, musicality and creativity. Selected candidates will be offered a pre-dancer contract with intensive dance training. They will be trained to perform for all types of events and audience.

Auditions are only applicable for Bellydance Discovery students.

You will be required to present 2 dance pieces
1) Middle Eastern (Classical/ Fusion)
2) Any form of dance (Modern, Hip hop, Jazz, Chinese, Ballet, Bellydance & etc)

You will be required to dance at least 2 minutes of your dance choreography. It is not a problem if you can’t dance to the full choreography.

Please read the followings rules and regulations to follow. Thank you.

1) Each of you will be allocated max. 10-15mins so please DO NOT be late.
2) Music CD shall be handed over only during audition (at Studio mini) before you dance.
3) If you need costume change from 1st dance to 2nd dance, please let us know and we will call in the next participant for 1st dance audition before your 2nd dance item
4) If you have a dance partner, please inform your dance partner to be ready in advance. (Note : your dance partner will not be part of the audited dancer)
5) There will be a short interview session right after you have presented your 2nd dance item. This interview session shall be part of Questions and Answers sessions so if have doubts about our Dancers’ Contract & expectation, feel free to ask during the interview session.

I still don't really know what the contract entails. Nor did I expect to be chosen as I changed one part of my cheoreography 15minutes prior to my alloted time. Some more I missed some of the steps during the audition which I pretended I didn't make and plastered a silly smile across my face to continue with the rest of the dance. Aiyah, zhong er yan zi, I think I was really really nervous.

But I am so so happy now!!

Silent All these Years

I just bought a Sun Yanzi CD!!

For somebody who seldom listen to Chinese songs; it's actually quite rare to find me buying one. I fell in love with one of her songs during her concert; the one I caught during my Taipei trip. The title is "Silent All these Years"... Probably most of you know this song. It's an old track in fact. The lyrics are surprisely candid and cynical. The best sentence I like goes something like this:" You got a girl who can think really deep thoughts. But what is so great about really deep thoughts."

I pondered really hard on this one. I still am pondering.

Surviving a Disaster

Last month I was so busy with perfecting my moves for Arabian Nites 06 and only now is it possible for me type this. The other day I received an email from Mary. She was explaining to me how busy she was that she didn't had the time to go for Arabain Nites. And the most important, rather shocking news she had? That she was in and out of the hospital visiting her friend who just came out of a 10-day coma.

Apparently while windsurfing she was struck by LIGHTNING (gasp!). Her heart stopped beating for 15 minutes. It's a miracle she survived. M-I-R-A-C-L-E... A simple word. Often over-used. But you truly understand the power of this word only when it happens.

Arrythmetic?

Wonder what the below items are?
On the left's a recorder attached to five different colours of wire........

And guess what??? These are attached to my waist and the five wires connected to different parts of my chest. The recorder's meant to record my heartbeat for 24hours, which means I cannot bathe which means I wore them to bed which means I didn't have a good sleep which means by the time these stuff are removed from my chest I suffered five red glaring round marks. So so itchy! I went home immediately to bathe and put moisturiser but still very itchy. Probably I am really sensitive to the sticky surgical tape. The itch lasted a day; the marks one week!!

I have to lie pretty low on my sofa cos the recorder keeps getting in the way.... Look at the picture below. See what I mean??

Anyway, the reason for doing all these and spending $600plus in all cos I've been experiencing some irregular heatbeats so my cardiologist has to do this monitoring to dertermine if it's too fast/ too slow/ miss a beat for him to prescribe the correct medicine. Moral of the story?? Buy insurance when you are healthy!!

Hobbits

By far, Hobbits are a legend to me. They only appear in Lord of the Rings. It was a Hobbit with three other Hobbits who saved Middle Earth. Together with a white hair man, a shortie man with long beard, a man with pointed ears and a man who looked younger than his age.

I was watching Angela Zhang's (below) MTV the other day. You know Taiwanese MTV has this habit of having chinese characters written as the MTV was being featured? Something like having a commentator except there's no real commentator but dialogues being flashed at the below of the screen so you gotta just read the 'commentaries'. Get the picture? Ok, she's compared to a Hobbit. A Halfling (in Middle Earth words).

Why? Because she is 158cm and weighs only.... *drum roll please* THIRTY-EIGHT KILOGRAM. Yes! 38kg! I spelt it out cos if I just type 38 doesn't give it much weight, geddit? I must type T-H-I-R-T-Y (spacebar) E-I-G-H-T. How can any decent girl who has reached puberty be only 38kg? It's not as if she's like a midget below 150cm or something. Her heaviest was 42kg.... Really can't tell from the picture huh?

Me? I am uh-erm, 159cm, one cm taller than her and weigh *no need drum roll* 47kg. Only 1cm taller but almost 10kg heavier. TEN KG overweight. I need to slim down and lose weight! My lightest was 45kg and by that, I meant I looked real thin (and sickly if I may add) plus my boobs were non-existent. FATS=BOOBS. So no fats means no boobs. And I don't have much to start with in the first place. What a dilemna!

What Kind of Panties are You?

You Are Lacy Panties
You're one seductive chica, but you've also got a ton of class.
You are like a pinup girl, with timeless beauty and sexiness.
Men are afraid to talk to you, knowing they'll be addicted to your charm immediately.
Only a true manly man, confident in himself, is your perfect match.
What Kind of Panties Are You?
I don't want to be a pinup girl!! And what is a "true manly man"?? Girls, take this test and tell me is it accurate for you.
